All of us Mommas have had kids with pooping problems at one point or another. I am not a doctor or in the medical field, but I have had to deal with this issue with my own children through the years. Specifically, with one of my kids, and at times it was a serious problem!
For most kids, this is a short-term problem, and merely trying step one will help.
But when our child had chronic constipation, I had horrible luck finding answers from the medical community. So, when I had no other choices I became my own detective and found MY OWN solutions.
If a Momma needs answers, there isn’t a problem too big for her to conquer.
As with anything, you should check with your doctor before trying vitamins, supplements, or interventions.
Here is what worked for my family.
- EAT MORE FRUIT AND VEGGIES! This is my number one tip, and I cannot emphasize it enough. And I do not mean add a fiber drink or some quick fix fiber smoothie. I mean, take out as many animal products that you can and eat REAL foods like fruit and vegetables. This made all the difference and fixed 99% of my kiddos suffering from constipation and tummy pain. The following are steps that I had to do for only one of my children who had a severe issue with their digestion NOT working correctly.
- Try a liquid diet for a few days to give your tummy a rest. This includes soups, smoothies, juices, protein drinks (dairy-free, of course.)
- Go Raw for a few weeks or months or years if necessary! I know what your thinking that eating this way will make their tummies worse, not better. BUT I am telling you that this really helped us get things back in the right direction for our child.
- Try having them drink Magnesium Citrate or taking it as a capsule.
- Consider using Liposomal Vitamin C.
- Drink tiny amounts of whole leaf aloe, once a day, for a short period of time.
- Consider a Colonic, aka colon cleansing. This is only an option for older children with severe constipation and should be cleared by your doctor. For us, Colonics were a game-changer and gave my child back their life. It was many years before they were 100% again, but all these steps helped them heal when nothing else worked.
I hope this brings some other Moms direction and encouragement if they too are dealing with a severe constipation issue and feeling like they can’t find any answers. That is how I felt!
I highly recommend a new book I just read call Fiber Fueled by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. Boy, do I wish that book was around 6 years ago when I needed help with my child’s constipation, but I am thrilled that it is a resource for all of you.
