DIY Your Mudroom in a Day!

We have always had this small messy mudroom with too many coats on the wall (we live in Minnesota) and too little storage space for things like laundry soap. It was finally time for a makeover. So, we turned to the place where everyone who wants to do a project goes and hit Pinterest for inspiration. The first idea we found was to put a little shelf over that awkward space behind the washer and dryer.

Then we saw the concept of using long tall racks next to the wall. We drew out our ideas and got to work.

This project was cheap and easy to accomplish, and for the hardware we hit, wait for it,

IKEA!

Who doesn’t love the prices and inspiration at Ikea?

We also decide to take down the coat hooks along the wall and put the coats in the closet. Crazy idea, right, coats in the closet? We put the hooks on the back wall of the closet, eliminating the need for the children to use a hanger.

Finally, we hung up some cheap art that we created from a poster I had and a picture frame we distressed from Goodwill.

That’s it, friends. I think it looks great, and it just proves with a few hours of hard work and a $100 you can makeover a room. I hope this brings you some inspiration and if so, post pics to share.
